This High End Low Loss RG6 Cable is ideal for DBS/Satellite Dish/HDTV and is swept to 3.0 GHz (3000MHz).

RG6 is the recommended coaxial cable for distributing signals from cable TV, satellite dish or from a roof-top antenna. The RG6 cable construction provides better sheilding than the older RG59 coax cable.

There are several variations of RG6 and there is sometimes confusion regarding the differences between the various coax cables. All of the common RG designations apply to various types of coaxial cable. Some people think “coax” or “coaxial” cable means “antenna cable,” or “cable with F-connectors,” but coax is a much more general classification. Any cable which has two conductors which share a single common axis is a coaxial cable–a center conductor, accompanied by a shield, the two being kept apart by a dielectric and wrapped in an outer jacket. All common video cable types are coaxial cables, though that’s harder to see in some than in others–for example, s-video cable typically is two mini-coaxial cables combined either in a common outer jacket or a zip-cord type arrangement.

The origin of the RG designations is in old, long-obsolete military specs; RG stands for “Radio Guide,” and the RG numbers are completely arbitrary. Most coaxial cables today are referred to as RG # “type,” meaning that they don’t strictly conform to the original Radio Guide specifications. The result is that the RG designations are so non-specific that it’s not really possible to say how a cable will perform just from knowing its RG number.

Take RG-6, for example. The only thing one can say generally about RG-6 type coaxes is that they have an 18 AWG center conductor. An RG-6 might be a cheap generic CATV coax, designed strictly for economy, with a thin aluminum braid and a copper-coated steel center conductor; it might be a better-grade CATV coax, with an aluminum “quad shield” arrangement; or it might be a precision serial digital video coax such as ATI Cables’ BCRG6, with a dense copper braid and double-foil shield, solid copper center conductor, nitrogen-injected PE foam dielectric, and extremely broad bandwidth and tight impedance tolerance. When people ask, “can I just use RG-6 for this application,” the only correct answer is a question: what do you mean by “RG-6”? High-bandwidth serial digital video and cable TV distribution may both use RG-6 type cable, but that doesn’t mean that the cable for one is necessarily suitable for the other.

The most common RG designations seen these days are RG-6, RG-8, RG-11, RG-58 and RG-59. RG-58 and RG-8 are 50 ohm coaxes, used in radio transmission (e.g., CB or Amateur radio) or in computer networks, RG-8 being a rather large cable and RG-58 a smaller cable. As 50 ohm cables, these are unsuited for video work. RG-6, RG-59 and RG-11 are all 75 ohm cable types, with RG-59 being the smallest, RG-6 in between, and RG-11 being the largest. RG-11 is practically absent from home a/v applications, because it is very large, not very flexible, and incompatible with RCA connectors. Its main uses are in very long runs where low signal loss is of paramount importance. RG-6 and RG-59 are both common in home a/v use, because their sizes are compatible with a variety of connectors. Both are available in many different types, with different shields, jackets, dielectrics, and center conductor materials.

Link your satellite dish to all of the receivers in your home with this high-quality 3GHz Quad Shield Coaxial Cable. Many coaxial cables are not capable of carrying high-frequency satellite signals, and may attenuate the signals resulting in lower reception strength and marginal performance. This 3 GHz cable is specially designed to carry those high-frequency signals, so each satellite receiver will get maximum signal strength! Great for linking multiple satellite receivers to a single dish, or for new single-dish installations.

Because of the cable handles a vast range of frequencies, it can be used to carry the following signals:

· Roof-top antenna analog VHF/UHF
· Terrestrial digital TV and HDTV signals
· FM radio
· Direct broadcast satellite systems
· Cable TV signals
· Digital cable
· Cable modem and Internet signals
· Baseband video from cameras and video players (Sat, DVD, PVR)
· “Upstream” modulated signals to a distribution panel

The cable consists of an 18-gauge solid bare copper conductor with 4 layers of aluminum shielding to provide maximum protection from electrical noise.
